Editorial: Print and Digital Magazines
My career in magazine publishing began at Zoasis (later ThinkPets, Inc.), where I started as a designer and soon became Art Director of HealthyPet magazine. For more than a decade, I served as the hands-on art director/designer for numerous issues across several titles, including HealthyPet—the nation’s largest pet care publication, which at its peak reached 3.17 million copies in circulation—along with HealthySmile, GlamToday, and California Broker magazines. As for the latter two publications, I designed the magazines myself.
Those years gave me the opportunity to work closely with photographers, designers, ad agencies, printers, and other vendors, while also deepening my expertise in print production.

Print Magazine: California Broker
By the time I joined as Art Director, the magazine was already an established brand. My role was to modernize its look and feel—making it more visually engaging and relevant for readers and advertisers alike. The redesigned magazine was well received, improving both its visual appeal and reader engagement.
I also streamlined production by implementing a rigorous proofreading and press-check process, eliminating unnecessary pre-press expenses and avoiding costly errors. In addition, I developed the company’s first-ever MailChimp-powered e-newsletter system, which increased the marketing newsletter’s open rate from 19% to 36%.

Digital Magazine: GlamToday
GlamToday was a start-up magazine where I served as its first Art Director/Designer. I built the publication from the ground up—establishing brand guidelines, creating design systems, and designing every issue myself. Within just four months, GlamToday ranked among the top 20 most downloaded iPad women’s glam fitness magazines in 2013.
