Landscape and Wildlife Photography
Landscape and wildlife photography have always been among my greatest passions. There’s something profoundly moving about the natural world—where the wild things are wild and the land remains untouched. I photograph to preserve those moments and to tell a story: I was there, and lucky enough to witness it. I hope others can feel that same joy when they see my work.
Winner
Cedar Waxwings & Toyon Berries
2021 Native Plant Garden Tour Photography Contest — Theodore Payne Foundation
“Habitat” Category
This photo was taken in my backyard in Pasadena, California. Migratory Cedar Waxwings rely heavily on the berries of Toyon, a native evergreen shrub. The winter ripening of Toyon fruit coincides with the waxwings’ seasonal presence, providing a critical food source that supports their energy needs during migration and overwintering.
I was asked—and gave permission—for this photo (and others in the same series) to be used free of charge by the UC Master Gardener Program of Sonoma County; the Habitat Corridor Project, a local nonprofit promoting native plant use, in collaboration with the City of Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Junior College, and Sonoma Water; and the UC Berkeley Jepson Herbarium.

Landscape, Wildlife, and National Parks
Here are some of the photographs I’ve taken over the years—from backyard birds and front porch views to wildflowers, elk, bison, bears, and the majestic mountains and valleys of California’s desert parks and the wilderness of national parks across the United States and Canada.
